MIS OCC PTC

Description

The Misamis Occidental Public Transparency Collective (Mis Occ PTC) was organized with the help of PPTRP to bankroll efforts in localizing public transparency initiatives in key localities of the province, principally Ozamiz City.

The following organizations helped convene and formally launch Mis Occ PTC in April 2011: the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) Ozamiz Chapter; the Freedom from Debt Coalition in Western Mindanao, which has a campaign on the transparency of local borrowings and local budget watch; Gitib Inc., which is into rural development, children’s rights and environmental education; and the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC)-Ministry of the Society of Saint Columban which is involved in a campaign to check on the practice of officials of far-flung towns of giving themselves salaries and benefits way above the mandated rates per classification of their respective municipalities. The NUJP acts as the secretariat.
